ECL reagents, also known as horseradish peroxidase (HRP) substrates, are currently the most sensitive reagents for Western blotting detection. At present, common ECL reagents on the market often have some problems such as easy quenching, high background, instability and low abundance protein difficult to detect, which affect the final experimental results.

Product principle

The core principle of ECL reagent detection is oxidation reaction: Luminol as the main ingredient of luminous substrate, in alkaline conditions,catalyzed by horseradish peroxidase (HRP), it is oxidized by H2O2 to produce the excited intermediate of 3-amino-phthalic acid. When it returns to the ground state, it emits a photon with a maximum emission wavelength of 425 nm. The photon signal can be captured by X-ray film or CCD imager.
